Elkens

Who We Are

I grew up with Labradors in my family. My first Lab was a wonderful black boy named Chief in 1977. He was a wonderful family companion.

Our kennel name Elkens Labradors come from my wonderful husband Ken, and my name Eleonore (EL) combined to create Elkens, our kennel name ūüôā Elkens labradors are registered with AKC.

We are active in AKC conformation shows and AKC obedience. I have been a 4H leader in Dog Training for over 12 years. Teaching children how to train their dogs and to become a team is so rewarding.  It is wonderful to watch them learn together, seeing their bond together grow more and more. I am active in several dog Clubs/Groups. San Joaquin Labrador Retriever Club, Sierra Vista Labrador Retriever Club, Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Club, and Kennel Club Of The California Sierras. Currently, I am the president of SVLRC Sierra Vista Labrador Retriever Club.

Our Goal

Here at Elkens Labradors, our goal is to produce quality all around Labradors that are bred to the AKC Standard. Healthy labs, sound in temperament, sound in body, as well as beautiful. We want our Labradors to go from the show ring to the hunt field and back to their family's house to be that sweet, wonderful family and house dog. Breeding Labradors, you will be Proud to Own and Love. We stick to the AKC standards of the Labrador Retriever. Temperament is very important! A Labrador must be a friendly, loving family companion and a worthy hunting partner.

We breed Yellows from Foxred to Light Cream, Black, and Chocolates.

What Sets Us Apart

Soundness is of primary importance here at Elkens Labradors.  Our breeding dogs are certified through OFA (Orthopaedic Foundation for Animals) program for their hips and elbows. OFA's website is www.offa.org   Their eyes are checked and cleared through CERF (Canine Eye Registry Foundation).  Hearts are cleared through color doppler exams. PRA (Blindness) tested & EIC tested.

All our puppies are raised in our home to provide the special attention and socialization they need to become great adult dogs. Socialization is very important to a young puppy. We start working with the puppies right away. They are loved and played with by my children and grandchildren. All our puppies are sold on a limited AKC registration. They come with a copy of their mother & father pedigree, de-wormed, first shots, health record, puppy food, puppy kit that provides a feeding guide, and lots of information on how to raise and care for your puppy.
